  Friday, May 7, 2021 -  The FWC is transplanting more than 150,000 aquatic plants on Lake Istokpoga, a 28,000-acre natural lake in Highlands County, to help restore this popular shallow sportfishing lake.

  Wednesday, April 21, 2021 -  The team will plant more than 5,000 new freshwater eelgrass plants in the shallow areas in Lake George and Silver Glen Springs.

  Friday, April 2, 2021 -  The FWC will treat invasive hydrilla in the Osceola County lake in areas where it is encroaching on beneficial native submersed aquatic plants and may impact access to navigation and flood protection.

• Input wanted for Lafayette Forest WEA’s future management plan

  Thursday, April 1, 2021 -  The FWC will present a 10-year management plan for the Lafayette Forest Wildlife and Environmental Area at a virtual public meeting on April 15, at 7 p.m.

• Alexander Springs Run project at CR 445 bridge will benefit visitors and the environment

  Wednesday, March 17, 2021 -  Public access at the County Road 445 bridge is temporarily closed now during construction and is to be completed by June 2021.

• Prescribed burn planned on Lake Okeechobee

  Monday, March 15, 2021 -  The FWC, in coordination with the South Florida Water Management District, plans to conduct a prescribed burn in Moonshine Bay Marsh on the west side of Lake Okeechobee this week, weather permitting.

• FWC and partners work on restoring the Peace River

  Friday, March 12, 2021 -  On both sites, the riverbanks were recontoured with machinery using Natural Channel Design methodology.
