Florida is the Fishing Capital of the World

Many of Florida's lakes, rivers and coastal fishing hotspots are located within the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s statewide network of wildlife management areas and fish management areas.  Anglers will find numerous saltwater and freshwater fishing opportunities throughout these areas, from inland lakes and rivers, to scenic bays and tidal creeks.

Enjoy bank fishing, fishing piers and crabbing platforms. Boat ramps provide convenient access. To improve angler success, lakes and ponds on many areas are stocked with catfish, bass and other species and include automatic feeders and attractors to concentrate fish.

Before you visit, familiarize yourself with the regulations and license requirements that help maintain this robust fishery. Accommodations for persons with disabilities vary at each Wildlife Management Area.

To check on the status of scheduled hunts, review the hunt regulations and Year-at-a-glance calendars in the Planning Your Visit section of each wildlife management area website.
