• FWC seeking help from the public for information regarding a vessel strike in Homosassa

  Friday, July 7, 2023 -  A vessel’s propeller struck a man diving for scallops at the scallop grounds northwest of St. Martins River in the Crystal River/Homosassa area and the vessel left the scene.

• FWC promotes awareness and heightened enforcement for boating under the influence during Operation Dry Water this weekend

  Friday, June 30, 2023 -  Operation Dry Water is a year-round Boating Under the Influence awareness campaign that facilitates a national weekend of BUI detection and enforcement aimed at reducing the number of alcohol- and drug-related boating incidents and fatalities.

  Monday, June 12, 2023 -  The FWC joined local law enforcement to conduct high visibility patrols at Baynard Point on the St. Johns River during Clay County’s unofficial holiday, “Boater Skip Day.”

• FWC reports ZERO boating accident fatalities over Memorial Day weekend

  Monday, June 5, 2023 -  Between May 27-29, FWC officers removed approximately 100 unsafe and impaired vessel operators across the state of Florida for boating under the influence and responded to over 30 boating accidents. There were zero fatalities reported during this time.

• FWC releases 2022 Boating Accident Statistical Report

  Thursday, June 1, 2023 -  Florida had 735 boating accidents in 2022, 16 fewer than in 2021. A total of 65 people lost their lives in these accidents, five more than the previous year.

• FWC urges boaters to go slow and be alert for jumping sturgeon

  Thursday, June 1, 2023 -  In past years, boaters have been injured by direct strikes with sturgeon.

• FWC reminds boaters National Safe Boating Week is May 20-26

  Friday, May 19, 2023 -  To reduce the number of boating accidents, the FWC encourages boaters to pay attention, maintain 360-degree awareness at all times and take a boater safety course.

• FWC Commissioners approve rule establishing designated anchoring areas in Monroe County

  Thursday, May 11, 2023 -  The designated areas are at Fleming Key, Sigsbee, Garrison Bight, Cow Key, Niles Channel, Bahia Honda Channel and Boot Key.

• FWC to meet May 10 and 11 in Miami

  Tuesday, April 25, 2023 -  The FWC will meet in person May 10-11 at the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon, 5101 Blue Lagoon Drive, Miami, FL 33126. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. ET each day and is open to the public.
