• FWC Commissioners approve rule establishing designated anchoring areas in Monroe County

  Thursday, May 11, 2023 -  The designated areas are at Fleming Key, Sigsbee, Garrison Bight, Cow Key, Niles Channel, Bahia Honda Channel and Boot Key.

• FWC to meet May 10 and 11 in Miami

  Tuesday, April 25, 2023 -  The FWC will meet in person May 10-11 at the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon, 5101 Blue Lagoon Drive, Miami, FL 33126. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. ET each day and is open to the public.

• FWC to conduct restoration project at Saint Andrew Bay

  Tuesday, April 11, 2023 -  This project will restore seagrass habitat lost due to a vessel grounding event. FWC staff will first restore the grounding area to natural sediment grade followed by transplanting native seagrass.

• FWC seeks public comment on proposed designated anchoring areas in Monroe County

  Thursday, March 23, 2023 -  Due to changes to section 327.4108, Florida Statutes that the Legislature approved last year, the FWC will adopt rules establishing anchoring areas, along with maximum allowable vessel drafts, throughout Monroe County.

• Hurricane Ian derelict vessel removal efforts continue

  Thursday, December 15, 2022 -  Imagery from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has identified over 7,500 potentially displaced vessels. FWC officers have assessed over 4,200 vessels on the waters of the state.
