  Thursday, December 1, 2022 -  The rule would require the possession of a descending device or venting tool that is rigged and ready for use on board a vessel when harvesting or attempting to harvest, including catch and release, reef fish in state waters.

  Monday, November 21, 2022 -  The minimum size limit for flounder is 14 inches total length and the daily recreational bag limit is five fish per person.

• Update: FWC’s freshwater fisheries conservation efforts show success for shoal bass

  Thursday, October 27, 2022 -  In 2018, the Chipola River population of shoal bass was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Michael. Impacts from the storm resulted in nearly a 90% decline in the shoal bass population, which was already at risk from habitat limits and degradation as well as genetic hybridization threats.
