  Friday, July 29, 2022 -  While serious injuries caused by alligators are rare in Florida, the FWC recommends taking the following precautions when in and around the water to prevent conflicts with alligators:

• Nearly 100 impaired vessel operators removed from Florida waterways during Operation Dry Water

  Thursday, July 21, 2022 -  The Independence Day weekend is one of the busiest boating holidays of the year and FWC officers, with the partnership of many other law enforcement agencies, were on the lookout for impaired boaters throughout the “Boating and Fishing Capital of the World.”

• Two Burmese pythons, clutch of eggs and hatchlings found and removed from Big Cypress National Preserve

  Thursday, July 14, 2022 -  In addition to python removal efforts on public lands, pythons may be humanely killed on private lands at any time with landowner permission — no permit or hunting license required — and the FWC encourages people to remove and kill pythons from private lands whenever possible.

• Assistant State Attorney Kipp Vugteveen honored as FWC 2022 Prosecutor of the Year

  Wednesday, July 13, 2022 -  ASA Vugteveen represents the 18th Judicial Circuit comprising Brevard and Seminole counties. Because of his understanding of resource violations, he has become the primary intake attorney for all FWC cases in these counties.

• FWC approves captive wildlife rule language for reporting requirements for injuries and escapes

  Wednesday, July 13, 2022 -  The new rule improves public safety and provides information necessary for the management of captive wildlife.

• FWC Senior Investigator Kyle Patterson

  Friday, June 10, 2022 -  Senior Investigator Kyle Patterson was involved in a fatal car crash in St. Lucie County and died as a result of his injuries.

• Retired FWC Investigator Steve Wayne inducted into the 2022 Florida Law Enforcement Officers' Hall of Fame

  Monday, May 23, 2022 -  The Hall of Fame recognizes and honors law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line for the safety and protection of Florida’s residents and visitors through their works, service and exemplary accomplishments.

• Commercial fishing captain pays $22,300 to settle federal fisheries case with NOAA

  Tuesday, May 17, 2022 -  Darrell York of the commercial fishing vessel, Watch Out, agreed to pay $22,300 restitution for resource-related crimes dating back to 2015.

• U.S. Department of Justice announces sentencing for Broward wildlife dealer and company

  Friday, April 22, 2022 -  Broward wildlife dealer and company sentenced for a scheme to unlawfully enrich themselves and others by smuggling illegally-harvested Florida turtles out of the United States and into China, Japan, and other places.

• 4 arrested for stone crab fishing violations

  Wednesday, April 13, 2022 -  FWC officers were conducting an operation to monitor for stone crab vessels fishing in the closed areas of the Big Bend stone crab – shrimping zones.
