  Wednesday, August 31, 2022 -  A series of Executive Orders were filed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for snook, redfish and spotted seatrout in response to a severe red tide event from 2017-2019.

• Temporary regulation modification for snook in Charlotte Harbor effective Sept. 1

  Wednesday, August 31, 2022 -  The FWC has filed an Executive Order this month to extend the catch-and-release only limit on snook in the area of Charlotte Harbor until Dec. 1, 2022, when normal regulations for snook will go into effect.

• CORRECTION ON REOPENING DATE: Recreational harvest of red grouper in Gulf state waters will close on Aug. 30

  Tuesday, August 23, 2022 -  Harvest will reopen on Jan. 1, 2023.

  Friday, August 19, 2022 -  This closure is consistent with the closure in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Fisheries Service.

• August blue crab trap closures for Florida’s northeast coast waived

  Wednesday, August 17, 2022 -  The FWC has waived the blue crab trap closure previously scheduled for Aug. 20-29, for all waters from Nassau through Volusia counties. Recreational and commercial blue crab traps may remain in the water during this period.

• FWC announces major contribution for new pier on Lake Montgomery in Lake City

  Friday, August 12, 2022 -  The pier project was made possible by a generous private donation from the Grace and Aloysius Harter Family Trust, managed by Rose Pavey, to the FWC through the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida.

• Brevard-Palm Beach blue crab trap closure ending early

  Friday, August 12, 2022 -  Recreational and commercial blue crab traps may be placed back in all waters of Brevard through Palm Beach counties starting Aug. 14.
