  • FWC to host public meeting for Jenkins Creek Dredging and Stabilization Project

    Friday, March 6, 2026 -  FWC will conduct a public meeting to present information and receive public comments on the project design plans and restoration goals for the Jenkins Creek Dredging and Shoreline Stabilization Project in Hernando County on March 25.
  • The FWC enhances Lake Poinsett with native eelgrass

    Monday, February 23, 2026 -  The FWC is beginning a native eelgrass revegetation project in Lake Poinsett, a 4,334-acre natural lake in Brevard County, to enhance fish and wildlife habitat. These planted areas will provide several ecological benefits and aid in the continued restoration of Lake Poinsett and other waterbodies of the St. Johns River. In addition to providing food and habitat for native fish and wildlife, native eelgrass beds enhance water quality and provide improved fishing and hunting opportunities.
  • FWC conducts aquatic plant control on Lake Rousseau

    Friday, February 20, 2026 -  The FWC will treat invasive hydrilla in areas where it is encroaching on beneficial native submersed aquatic plants and where it may negatively impact navigation and flood protection. There are no restrictions for swimming, fishing, or turf irrigation after treatment.
  • FWC to host Lake Miccosukee management meeting

    Friday, February 13, 2026 -  FWC will host a public meeting on Feb. 26 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse Annex located at 435 West Walnut Street, Monticello, FL 32344 to share information and discuss future management of fish, wildlife and habitat on Lake Miccosukee during an ongoing, naturally occurring dry-down event.
