Open/Closed Status of FWC Offices, Facilities, and Managed Areas

Below is a list of FWC-managed areas and facilities, including wildlife management areas, fish management areas, shooting ranges and regional offices. If an area, in part or all, has been closed due to storm activity/other natural occurrences or for repairs/renovations, it will be noted next to the area's listing. If nothing is noted next to the name of the area, it is open.

Wildlife Management Areas

If an area, in part or all, has been closed due to storm activity/other natural occurrences or for repairs/renovations, it will be noted next to the area's listing. If nothing is noted next to the name of the area, it is open.

Camping Notices: Some WMAs do not offer camping opportunities and others allow camping only during certain times of the year. In addition to checking an area’s open/closed status, please also review the WMA regulations brochure for information about camping. Also, campgrounds with restroom facilities that don't have running water (such as portable toilets and vault toilets) may not be stocked with hand hygiene products. Visitors should bring their own hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol for use in these facilities.

  • A-1 FEB PSGHA - Due to construction work, the northwest levee and entire western levee will be closed to all public access until further notice. All boat ramps and parking areas on the eastern and northern part of the area will remain open to the public, but the designated entrance has been moved to the southeast corner of the area (mile marker 53).

  • C-23/24 Reservoir PSGHA - Due to construction work, the South Florida Water Management District, has closed the northernmost parcel (off Summerlin Road) to all public access until further notice.

  • Everglades and Francis S. Taylor - Beginning March 6 and lasting through June 30, motor vehicles, EXCEPT swamp buggies and tracked vehicles, are prohibited, except street-legal vehicles are allowed on designated levees open to motor vehicles.
  • Florida Keys - Portions of the Florida Keys Wildlife & Environmental Area on Lower Sugarloaf Key and Lower Sugarloaf Sound are closed to public access to protect listed-species nesting activity. Areas are marked and are to be avoided by the public. Closure remains in effect until Aug. 30, 2023.
  • Florida Panther NWR -
  • Fisheating Creek 
  • Frog Pond North PSGHA  
  • Holey Land - Due to mechanical vegetation treatment and vegetation recovery, a 125-acre parcel in the southeastern portion of the area near the L-5 levee will be closed to all public access through November 2023 (see map of the closed area).
    The Holey Land WMA northwestern corner boat ramp and approximately 1.7 miles of the L23 eastern levee south of that boat ramp will be closed to public access from March 1, 2022 through August 2023 due to construction activities. Also, vehicles with trailers are advised not to drive down any portion of the L23 eastern levee because there is no turnaround location. Beginning March 6 and lasting through June 30, motor vehicles, INCLUDING swamp buggies and tracked vehicles, are prohibited, except street-legal vehicles are allowed on designated levees open to motor vehicles.
  • Hungryland
  • J.W. Corbett - The Hungryland Boardwalk and Trail, and the associated parking lot, is under construction. Bathrooms and limited parking are available on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays only). This entire project should be completed by the end of July 2023. 
  • Kissimmee Bend Unit of the Everglades Headwaters
  • Okaloacoochee Slough - Due to road construction and repairs, a portion of Otter Grade is closed to vehicles until further notice. The following state forest roads are closed until further notice due to water and debris: Oil Pad, Sic Island, Patterson, North Loop West and North, Keri Tower Road, Mustang Grade, and 4 Sections Road.
  • Picayune Strand
  • Rocky Glades PSGHA 
  • Rotenberger - Beginning March 6 and lasting through June 30, motor vehicles, INCLUDING swamp buggies and tracked vehicles, are prohibited, except street-legal vehicles are allowed on designated levees open to motor vehicles.

  • STA 1 West Waterfowl PSGHA -  
  • STA 2 Waterfowl PSGHA - The public access gate along U.S. 27 entering into STA 2 and the L-6 levee (Sportsman’s Crossover Boat Ramp) will be temporarily closed due to extensive construction activities from March 8, 2023 through July 26, 2023.
