Freshwater Habitats

Florida is brimming with freshwater aquatic resources such as lakes, rivers, springs, streams, forested wetlands and non-forested wetlands. The freshwater habitat group within the Aquatic Habitat Conservation and Restoration Section, working in partnership with other agencies, is responsible for the restoration, enhancement and management of these resources. These projects include restoring the natural hydrology of wetlands, enhancing desirable vegetative communities and managing existing habitats for fish and wildlife resources.
