Organized groups such as scouts, school, church, or other civic organizations may request a private program from Chinsegut Conservation Center. The programs offered by the center are listed at the bottom of this page. Please note, the center does not accept requests for private birthday parties, weddings, or other personal events.

We require that groups requesting a program have a minimum of 10 participants. The maximum allowed number of participants varies depending on the program, but overall, the center cannot accommodate groups larger than 40 individuals. All youth (age 17 and under) groups must provide adult chaperones for programs, no less than 1 adult chaperone per 10 children. Chaperones are responsible for monitoring the behavior of children at all times and ensuring their adherence to safety rules set by the educator.

Most of Chinsegut’s programs are offered outdoors or include an outdoor component. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate to the program, time of year and weather and to bring personal drinking water, sun protection or bug spray as needed. Some programs may require specific attire or shoes to ensure safe participation. Please verify if there are special attire requirements for the program you are booking. Center staff cannot provide you with advance weather information but, when possible, will adjust booked programs due to weather.

Programs should be requested at least one month in advance and are booked on a first come first served basis as educators are available. Programs may be requested by sending an e-mail to Chinsegut@MyFWC.com or by calling the conservation center at (352) 754-6722.

Please include in your request:

  • Name and approximate date (or date range) of the program you are requesting.
  • Name, phone number, and e-mail address of the primary contact for the group
  • Name of your organization
  • Number of participants
  • Age range of participants
  • Experience level of participants in the program/activity being requested

Conservation center programs are open to all individuals and groups regardless of race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin or disability. Chinsegut has one all-terrain track chair available to people with mobility challenges. Groups with participants needing special accommodations for a program, including potential use of the track chair, should contact the center coordinator at 352-754-6722 one month in advance of an anticipated program to discuss how we can best meet your needs.

See Chinsegut’s list of Essential Eligibility Criteria for programs. For more information on accessibility and FWC visit the ADA webpage.
