FWRI houses three separate ichthyology collections including adult and juvenile fish, ichthyoplankton, and fish tissues.

The FWRI ichthyology collection includes over 30,000 adult and juvenile fishes from the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Tissue samples are available for over 3,500 of these specimens.

The Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) is a cooperative state and federal program for collecting, managing, and disseminating fishery-independent data. The SEAMAP ichthyology archive contains more than 580,000 lots of specimens dating back to the 1980s.
