Herky Huffman/Bull Creek WMA Camping

Camping is allowed only at the designated campground during hunting season dates from 8:00 am one day prior to each season through 6:00 pm one day following each season. Camping equipment may be taken onto the area after 8:00 am seven days prior to the opening of the archery season and must be removed before 6:00 pm seven days following the end of the spring turkey season. See the regulations summary brochure for hunting season dates and a map showing the campground location. The campground has no designated sites and there are no site reservations required.
After July 1, 2026, a no-cost permit will be required to camp. The permit can be obtained through the booking system below.
Only tents, trailers or self-propelled camping vehicles may be used. The name, address and telephone number of the person responsible for each campsite must be clearly displayed on the camping shelter.
Camping is allowed throughout the year at designated campsites on the Florida National Scenic Trail, but only for persons hiking through on the Florida National Scenic Trail. Persons hiking through and camping on the Florida National Scenic Trail are exempt from the camping permit requirements.
- All WMA rules and regulations, camping permit conditions, and applicable environmental laws must be followed by permit holder and their guests.
- Permit holder is responsible for the actions and/or violation of permit provisions of all persons using the camping permit.
- Camping permit holders must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
- A permit must be obtained for each camping trailer or self-propelled camping vehicles.
- A permit must be obtained for all tent camping. Each permit may contain up to 2 tents.
- Camping permit must be displayed at all times in a manner visible to law enforcement and FWC area staff. All trailers and campers should have current registration as required by law.
- Pets are allowed but must be kept under physical restraint at all times.
- Each camper must ensure that their camping area is clean at all times.
- All food and garbage shall be stored in a manner that will prevent access by wildlife.
- All trash must be hauled out of the area and disposed of in an appropriate and legal manner. Littering or the disposal of any liquid or solid waste product is prohibited anywhere in the campground, vault toilets, and the WMA.
- All equipment must be contained within the boundary of the designated campground and be removed from the area upon permit expiration.
- Kitchen stoves, refrigerators, freezers and other appliances that are not contained in mobile campers are prohibited. Only portable outdoor camping furniture is permitted outside of tents and campers.
- No person shall bring building materials onto the area or erect permanent or semi-permanent structures.
- All campfires are to be extinguished before leaving the campsite. Burning trash including glass, plastic, metal, used lumber, and pallets is prohibited. Individuals must provide their own firewood.
- Cutting of vegetation and standing trees (alive or dead) is prohibited.
- Altering, defacing, moving, or tampering with official markings of campsites is prohibited.
- Any violation of permit provisions may result in permit cancelation and/or citation.
