With about 1,200 feet of shoreline on Deer Lake, the WMA connects to the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, which forms the headwaters of the Kissimmee River/Lake Okeechobee/Everglades system. This important water system supports both wildlife and people across much of southern Florida.

The area provides essential habitat for native wildlife, including the Florida panther, Florida black bear and bald eagle. Its location helps link large tracts of protected land, creating a vital corridor for these and other wildlife.

Managed to conserve and restore natural communities, Creek Ranch WMA is currently being evaluated for a variety of recreational opportunities for the public. As access points are developed, visitors will be able to enjoy hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, bicycling and horseback riding.
