Holton Creek Wildlife Management Area

Managed in cooperation with:
Suwannee River Water Management District
Florida Forest Service
Holton Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in south central Hamilton County. This land was acquired under the Save Our Rivers program to protect limestone outcrops and lush seepage slopes along 10 winding miles of the Upper Suwannee River. More than 2,000 acres of river bluff hardwoods and pine plantations contain two first-magnitude springs that flow into the Suwannee River. The Florida Trail winds along the riverfront for many miles.
Holton Creek WMA is open to the public 1.5 hours before sunrise until 1.5 hours after sunset, except during hunts and the day before each hunt when access is limited to individuals participating in the hunts and hikers using the Florida Trail.
Horses are allowed only during periods closed to hunting, only during daylight hours, and only on designated roads. Visitors must enter and exit via Road 20-1, the Florida Trail or the Suwannee River.
