St Vincent Sambar Deer

A St. Vincent Island Sambar Deer Permit is a type of limited entry permit that is required in order to participate in Sambar Deer primitive weapons hunts on St. Vincent Island NWR.  St. Vincent Island NWR is only accessible by boat. Please visit the St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge for the refuge’s rules and regulations, and more information on the hunts.

Cost: $5.00 to apply, $35.00 per permit.

Exemptions: There are no exemptions for this permit.

Group ApplicationsGroup applications are accepted in Phase I.

Preference Points: Preference points are cumulative and available in Phase I for applicants who are unsuccessful. If you fail to apply during Phase I for two consecutive years, your preference points will be reset to zero.

Transferability: These permits are not transferable.

How to Apply: Applicants can apply online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com (sign on and choose “Apply for Limited Entry/Quota Permit”) or by completing an Application Worksheet and presenting it to any license agent or tax collector's office. Each applicant may make one choice per application in Phase I and Phase II Leftovers.

Application and Permit Issuance: Applicants may submit one application and receive up to one permit in Phase I. Successful applicants must purchase their permit by the claim deadline. Permits not purchased by the claim deadline will be forfeited and offered in Phase II Leftovers. Permits are issued by random drawing during Phase I and issued on a first-come, first-served basis in Phase II Leftovers. Applicants may be awarded one St. Vincent Sambar Deer permit per season.

Drawing Results: Drawing results are typically posted within three business days after the application period ends. Permits not purchased by the Phase I claim deadline will be forfeited and offered in Phase II Leftovers.

How to Get Your Permit: Successful applicants may purchase and print their permit online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com or at a license agent or tax collector’s office. Applicants who purchased online and have a valid email address will have a copy of their permit emailed to them. Permits may also be downloaded and stored on the Fish|Hunt Florida mobile app.

Guests: Guest permits are not available for this permit type.   

Reprints: Customers can reprint their permit at no cost from their customer account at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com. Permits may also be reprinted at a license agent or tax collector’s office for a fee.

Returned Permits: These permits cannot be returned.
