Group Applications

General Information

How do group applications work?

Applying as a group ensures that every member of the group receives the same outcome in the random drawing. If there is only one permit remaining for a hunt, and a group application is selected, the quota for that hunt will be exceeded by up to four so that everyone in the group receives a permit (which includes a guest permit) for the same hunt. Once permitted, group members do not have to hunt together.

When and how to apply as a group

Group applications are allowed in Phase I. If selected, each member of the group will receive their own permit for the same hunt. Each member of the group must submit an application during the application period. Additional group members cannot be added after the application period closes.

Group leader: The group leader must submit their application first and set the group up. During the application process, the group leader should select "Create A Group" and select the hunt choices. If available, the group leader will also have the option to opt-in to be included in the antlerless deer drawing. The group leader will get a group number to provide to group members once they submit the application.

The leader will get a receipt with a group number printed on it and their preference status.  The group leader provides the group number to the joining members.

Group members:  Each group member must submit an application during the phase I application period. They should select "Join A Group" and will be asked to provide the number of the group that they want to join. Their application will then be populated to match the group leader's application.

How are preference points used by a group application?

The ranking of a group application in the random drawing will be determined by the group member with the lowest preference points. For example, if four members have two preference points and one member has zero preference points, the application will be included in the drawing with zero preference points. If unsuccessful, each group member will have their previous personal preference points restored and one added.
