Alternative Mobility Permit Summary 2024-2025

Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and Wildlife and Environmental Areas (WEAs)

Apalachee WMA

1. Permit holder should display permit to check station operator upon entry into the WMA when check station is manned or shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) when check station is not manned.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.  During periods closed to hunting, the use of ATVs is prohibited except on Rock Pond Road and during daylight hours only one week prior to the archery season and one day prior to the muzzleloading gun and general gun seasons.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Apalachicola WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area per U.S. Forest Service Policy.  U.S. Forest Service regulations must be adhered to when operating an ORV or ATV on the area.

Apalachicola WMA – Bradwell Unit

AMP permit is not valid on this area per U.S. Forest Service Policy.  U.S. Forest Service regulations must be adhered to when operating an ORV or ATV on the area.

Apalachicola River WEA

1. Permit holder shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) each time before exercising permit. Note: Apalachicola River WEA does not have a manned check station. This provision will help address complaints and reduce unnecessary response to complaints by law enforcement.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, ground cover restoration sites, wildlife food plots and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. ATVs are prohibited on lands owned by the Northwest Florida Water Management District.

5. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Aucilla WMA

1. Permittee shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) each time before exercising permit.

Note: Aucilla does not have a manned check station.  This provision will help address complaints and reduce unnecessary response to complaints by law enforcement.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

5. Permit valid on lands owned by the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.  User must obtain a Special Use Authorization from SRWMD by calling 386-362-1001 or by going to recreation@srwmd.org after obtaining the FWC AMP permit.

Beaverdam Creek WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Blackwater WMA

No additional stipulations.  Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Blackwater WMA – Carr Unit

No additional stipulations.  Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Blackwater WMA – Hutton Unit

No additional stipulations.  Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Box-R WMA

1. Permit holder should display permit to check station operator upon entry into the WMA when check station is manned or permittee shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) when check station is not manned.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Chipola River WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Choctawhatchee River WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Econfina Creek WMA

AMP permit is valid only in the designated Mobility-Impaired Area, during mobility-impaired hunts and scouting days only by persons possessing quota permits for the designated hunt.

Eglin AFB WMA

AMP permit is valid only during designated Eglin Special Opportunity hunts. Please contact Eglin’s Natural Resources Branch (850-882-4164) for information.

Escambia River WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Escribano Point WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Garcon Point WMA

AMP is valid only in the Clark Tract and only during daylight hours for individuals possessing a valid quota permit. ATVs are only allowed on closed roads.

Joe Budd WMA

1. Permit holder should display permit to check station operator upon entry into the WMA when check station is manned or permittee shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) when check station is not manned.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Juniper Creek WMA

1. Permit holder should display permit to check station operator upon entry into the WMA when check station is manned or permittee shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) when check station is not manned.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Lafayette Creek WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

L. Kirk Edwards WEA

1. Permit holders will need to contact the FWC NW Regional Office at 850-265-3676 (8 a.m.-5 p.m. ET, M-F) for combination to perimeter gates.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Ochlockonee River WMA

1. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

2. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

3. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Perdido River WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Pine Log WMA

No additional stipulations.  Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Point Washington WMA

1. Permittee shall notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) each time before exercising permit. 

Note:  Point Washington does not have a manned check station. This provision will help address complaints and reduce unnecessary response to complaints by law enforcement.

2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

3. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

4. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Plank Road WMA

1. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

2. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

3. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Talquin WMA

1. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

2. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

3. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Tate’s Hell WMA

  1. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited in designated areas (see map).  Driving through ditches or sensitive areas from roads to permitted areas is prohibited.
  2. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.  
  3. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.
  4. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Tate’s Hell WMA – St. James Island Unit

1. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

2. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

3. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to vehicles.

Telogia Creek WMA

1. Permit holder must notify FWC radio dispatch (1-888-404-3922) prior to each time exercising this permit.

2. Use of motorized vehicles, including street legal and off-highway vehicles, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, or any areas posted as closed for management activities such as wildlife surveys.

3. During periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed, the use of off-highway vehicles such as ATVs and side-by-sides is restricted to direct transportation to and from the immediate hunting area.

4. Roads closed by gates or cables are closed to motorized vehicles.

Tate’s Hell WMA – Womack Creek Unit

1. Use of vehicles, including ATVs, is prohibited on archeological sites, bald eagle nesting areas, newly planted pine plantations, wildlife food plots, and areas posted as closed for wildlife surveys.

2. Use of ATVs is restricted to transportation to and from immediate hunting area.

3. Permit valid only during periods when hunting with archery and gun equipment is allowed.

Tyndall AFB WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Wakulla WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.

Yellow River WMA

AMP permit is not valid on this area.
