Wildlife Lighting Certification Program
NEW CERTIFICATIONS
Electronic Pre-Review: TEMPORARILY CLOSED
The Electronic Pre-Review period is for new fixtures and lamps that need to be reviewed by FWC staff prior to the submittal period. Please be advised, in order to be considered for approval, fixtures and lamps must meet ALL THREE Wildlife Lighting Criteria.
1. To have fixtures or lamps reviewed, manufacturers must submit all the following to WildlifeLighting@MyFWC.com:
- Specification/cutsheets for each fixture
- Lamp specification sheet for each fixture
- Photos for each fixture
- Spectral distribution chart (if available)
- LM-79 report* (if available)
- Shielding options
*For all pole and roadway fixtures, FWC will now require LM-79 reports from a third-party tester. Please advise, this testing does not replace physical submission for the certification process.
2. Once this information is received, FWC will review the documents electronically and determine if the fixtures or lamps meet the Wildlife Lighting Criteria:
- If the fixtures are approved for testing, FWC staff will arrange for physical testing. Please DO NOT send products without prior consent.
- If the fixtures are not approved for testing, FWC will provide recommendations to improve fixtures for certification.
Submittal Period: New testing dates have not been established at this time.
The submittal period is for new fixtures and lamps to be submitted by mail for physical testing.

Certification
During the Submittal Period, the FWC determines if a fixture or lamp is recommended for certification.
1. If the fixtures or lamps are recommended for certification, FWC requires the specification/cutsheets and digital photos with the approved options ONLY to be submitted.
2. Once this information is received, FWC will provide the manufacturer with their Wildlife Lighting Certification, authorize the use of the Official Wildlife Lighting Logo, and update the website with the newly certified fixtures/lamps.
Wildlife Lighting Certifications will be valid for 3 years from the date of issuance. Any fixtures or lamps certified prior to 2018 must be resubmitted for recertification.
