PROPOSAL DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 21, 2023

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is soliciting funding proposals for habitat protection projects* benefiting the state-Threatened burrowing owl. This request for proposals is limited to habitat protection projects. A maximum of $900,000 is available from the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida to fund land acquisitions and/or conservation easements benefitting the species using mitigation contributions from burrowing owl incidental take permitting.

Habitat protection proposals will be accepted between November 17, 2022 – April 21*, 2023. Please note that the application deadline has been extended by one week. Government agencies and non-governmental organizations accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission are eligible to apply.

*Future opportunities may focus solely on habitat restoration and management, voluntary conservation on private lands (e.g., installation of artificial burrows, posting and signage, etc.) and research.
