Role that genetic and physiological diversity play in harmful algal bloom progression.
I use manipulative experiments with cultures and fresh isolates and bioinformatics approaches to identify the mechanisms that differentiate organisms. My focus is on Karenia brevis (responsible for red tide in Florida) and closely related species.
