Production of algal toxins by multiple species of phytoplankton found in Florida waters, persistence of algal toxins in the environment, impacts of algal toxins on fish and wildlife
I direct the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) Harmful Algal Bloom Research and Fish and Wildlife Health Research subsections, ensuring that programs within the subsections address priorities and meet the goals and objectives of the FWC and FWRI. I oversee regulatory shellfish sample analyses in support of shellfish management by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Aquaculture and coordinate biotoxin-related research projects. My primary project is to update and improve the methods used by the state for regulatory shellfish analyses.
