The Florida Landscape Assessment Model (FLAM)

The Florida Landscape Assessment Model (FLAM) is a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tool that ranks the Florida landscape based upon natural resources and fish and wildlife habitat to help identify ecologically significant lands in the state. The FLAM incorporates a variety of spatial information from 15 variables including species habitat, managed lands, aquatic resources, and disturbance measures. The FLAM data can be used for conservation purposes such as determining ways to avoid or minimize project impacts and identifying appropriate parcels for public land acquisition.

The FLAM was developed in 2019 and replaces the Integrated Wildlife Habitat Ranking System (IWHRS) created in 2009. The FLAM is updated annually (near the end of the calendar year) as new data become available.
