Twin Rivers WMA - Blue Spring Unit

Blue Springs Twin Rivers

Managed in cooperation with Florida Forest Service.

The Blue Springs Unit is one of 14 tracts located in western Hamilton County. These nearly 2,000 acres are covered in sandhills and pine plantations. The Blue Springs Unit provides an excellent bobwhite quail hunting opportunity. This is due to the diligent use of growing season prescribed fire by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Florida Forest Service.

For information on hunting, review FWC's regulations summary brochure. Miles of marked trail roads provide opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. Gopher tortoise, indigo snake, brown-headed nuthatch, turkey, white-tailed deer, and northern bobwhite are some of the wildlife species that can be seen on the area. This area is a site on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail.

Add your bird observations to the Twin Rivers State Forest - Blue Springs Tract eBird Hotspot.

Children under the age of 16 are required to wear a helmet when horseback riding on public lands.  For more detailed information go to Nicole's Law. All horseback riders must have proof of current negative Coggins Test results for their horses when on state lands. One picnic site is located on the area.

Camping is allowed during non-hunting periods by landowner permit. Contact the Florida Forest Service at (386) 208-1461 for more information.
