KICCO Wildlife Management Area

Managed in cooperation with the South Florida Water Management District.
KICCO WMA protects more than 7,400 acres along the Kissimmee River in Polk County, preserving a mosaic of habitats including scrub, oak hammock, cypress strand, pine-palmetto flatwoods and the marshes of Blanket Bay Slough.
Public access other than on foot or by bicycle requires a Special Use License from the South Florida Water Management District.
A public boat ramp is located at structure 65, adjacent to SR 60, and a private boat ramp is located at River Ranch Resort, which can be used for a small fee. The use of airboats, tracked vehicles, all-terrain vehicles or unlicensed and unregistered motorcycles is prohibited.

Fishing
Fishing is permitted year-round. A Florida fishing license is required and can be purchased at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com.
Camping
Camping is allowed at a designated campsite and requires a Special Use License from the South Florida Water Management District.
Recreation
About 11 miles of the Florida Trail traverse the area through oak hammock, scrub, cypress strand and pine-palmetto flatwoods. There is an excellent opportunity for biking on nine miles of KICCO Grade road.
Horses are allowed with a Special Use License from the South Florida Water Management District.

Wildlife
Wildlife is abundant and includes white-tailed deer, alligators, bald eagles, wild turkeys, hawks, wading birds and sandhill cranes. The threatened crested caracara has been observed on the area.
