The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will conduct aquatic plant control in portions of Lake Rousseau in parts of Citrus, Levy and Marion counties the week of February 23, weather permitting. The FWC will treat invasive hydrilla in areas where it is encroaching on beneficial native submersed aquatic plants and where it may negatively impact navigation and flood protection. There are no restrictions for swimming, fishing, or turf irrigation after treatment.

The FWC manages hydrilla on a lake-by-lake basis through a collaborative approach. Management decisions are based on the plant’s impact on native vegetation, navigational access, flood control, and overall management costs.

For general waterbody information, fishing forecasts, virtual tours, annual workplans, boat ramp information, and more, visit the “What’s Happening on My Lake” website at MyFWC.com/Lakes.

For more information about the treatment, contact the FWC's Invasive Plant Management Section at InvasivePlants@MyFWC.com or 850-617-9430.
