This CWA includes several small spoil islands located in the Intracoastal Waterway, just east of Siesta Key. It supports a variety of nesting wading and diving birds, including state-threatened reddish egret and roseate spoonbill. Hundreds of birds fly in to roost on the islands every night.
Financial support for Roberts Bay Critical Wildlife Area in-water markers was provided by the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida, Inc. through the Conserve Wildlife Tag grant program.
