Closure Dates: April 1 – August 31

Focal Species: Least tern, snowy plover, Wilson’s plover.

 

This CWA includes portions of the beach and dune system on Fort Myers Beach. Renowned ornithologist, Roger Tory Peterson, visited this site a few years before the CWA was established and declared it possibly the best place in the world to photograph shorebirds.

An adult Least Tern stands over it's chick on the beach.
