Big Carlos Pass CWA is a natural mangrove island located in the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve. The island supports a diverse group of nesting birds, including state-threatened little blue herons and tricolored herons.
Financial support for Big Carlos Pass Critical Wildlife Area in-water markers was provided by the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida, Inc. through the Conserve Wildlife Tag grant program.
