Focal Species: wood storks, roseate spoonbills, brown pelicans, great egrets, great blue heron, tri-colored heron, and others.
BC49 is a spoil island located in the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserve. The island and surrounding waters are closed to public access during the breeding season for the protection of nesting wading and diving birds.
