Focal Species: Snowy plover, Wilson’s plover, American oystercatcher, least tern, willet.

Emergent lands on the northwest end the Alligator Point peninsula provide important breeding habitat for state-threatened species, including the American oystercatcher. The Critical Wildlife Area and adjacent emergent lands where beach-nesting birds breed are posted seasonally during critical phases of these species’ life cycle to prevent disturbance.
