This CWA includes two islands, known locally as Bird Island and Sunken Island. Located in Hillsborough Bay at the mouth of the Alafia River, this CWA is part of the Richard T. Paul Alafia Banks Sanctuary, managed by Audubon Florida.
Alafia Banks CWA hosts thousands of birds during the nesting season and throughout the winter. Both islands and the surrounding water buffer are closed to public access year-round.
