Squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus)

Historically squirrel monkeys were introduced into Florida in five separate populations located throughout the state.  Today only one small population of a few individuals is known to exist in the Fort Lauderdale area at the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens.  Members of this population are free-ranging and have been observed traveling to nearby Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.
