The striped newt (Notophthalmus perstriatus) was recently designated as a Candidate Species for listing in the state of Florida. The listing process for the species is expected to be completed in 2022. This salamander is found only in southern Georgia and northern Florida with drastic population declines documented throughout much of their range.
