GIS and Mapping Projects
In addition to providing data and web support services, the GIS and Mapping group is involved in several research projects in collaboration with other FWRI sections, FWC divisions, state agencies, and regional governing bodies, like the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative, and the South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council.
Fisheries and Water Resource Projects

Project topics include coastal habitat mapping, coral reef monitoring, freshwater stream assessments, and species distribution modeling. Most of these projects are led by staff from FWRI's St. Petersburg office.
Wildlife and Upland Conservation Projects
This page contains a list of GIS and Mapping projects that are focused on Wildlife Management and Land Conservation. Project topics include modeling wildlife species distribution, assessing upland and freshwater habitats, and providing GIS and spatial analysis support for multi-agency conservation projects. Most of these projects are led by staff from FWRI's Tallahassee and Gainesville offices.
Oil Spill Planning and Emergency Response
Our State Scientific Support Coordinator and GIS support team provide spill responders with valuable scientific information from FWRI's researchers. Check out maps, reports, and planning tools produced by FWRI in support of oil spill planning, response, damage assessment, and restoration.
