About MarineQuest

In 1995 the first MarineQuest event was held at the headquarters of the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, designed to celebrate 40 years of marine science that started with just two researchers on a small peninsula overlooking Bayboro Harbor in St. Petersburg.

Now, over 25 years later, MarineQuest has evolved into a three-day event that welcomes thousands of people through its doors to learn more about Florida’s fish, wildlife, and their habitats and the cutting edge research that Institute scientists are leading all around the state.

While our event may look different this year due to the current state of the world, our purpose has not changed. MarineQuest is our chance to share our research with you – our passion, our focus, our dedication to our mission to conduct collaborative research and monitoring to provide timely information and guidance to protect, conserve and manage Florida’s fish and wildlife resources.

We invite you to join us on Thursday, October 14 for our virtual MarineQuest 2021 event. We will be live streaming all day right here on our website. Tune in for field videos from our fisheries and wildlife research projects, join our researchers live from their labs to learn about aging fish, rescuing manatees, and processing water samples for red tide, and keep an eye out for clips from our new series "Science Snippets", bite-sized video views into the world of our researchers.
