In the fall and winter, you can hunt for white-tailed deer, feral hogs and small game species on Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. There are also spring turkey quota hunts during March and April. The best times to hike or bike are on non-hunting days in the fall through the spring.
Throughout the year, you can take a drive through the sandhill, scrub and flatwoods on several miles of improved roads. Some roads also traverse portions of the hardwood swamp. In the fall, the sandhills are ablaze with wildflowers scattered among green palmettos and wispy, golden native grasses. The scenery during the summer months is beautiful, as well. However, the heat, humidity and mosquitoes can be intense.

- A Daily-Use Permit is required to enter this area, unless you have purchased a Wildlife Management Area Permit. To hunt or fish you must also possess the appropriate license and permit.

- Dogs are permitted but must be kept under physical restraint at all times. Find regulations regarding hunting dogs in the regulations summary brochure.
- Vault toilets are available at the main entrance on Rattlesnake Camp Road and at the parking area at Eagles Nest Sink.
- During scheduled hunt days, all WMA visitors are encouraged to wear a daylight fluorescent orange shirt, vest, jacket and/or hat.
- Chassahowitzka WMA SCUBA Diving Registration is required and must be on-file with the FWC prior to SCUBA diving at Eagles Nest Sink or Buford Spring. Follow these steps to register:
