Bayard Wildlife Management Area

Managed in cooperation with the St. Johns River Water Management District.

Bayard WMA is located south of Green Cove Springs and is comprised of over 9,700 acres extending nearly seven miles along the western bank of the St. Johns River. Floodplain forests line the river, while pine flatwoods and sandhill communities are found on higher ground in this diverse area.

Fishing

Fishing is permitted year-round. A Florida fishing license is required and can be purchased at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com. Although the area is accessible by water, there are no boat launches.

Camping

Recreation

Recreational activities include hunting, bank fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, camping and picnicking.

Wildlife

The diverse habitats found here support a range of common and imperiled wildlife, including white-tailed deer, bald eagles, wild turkeys and gopher tortoises.
