General Information
An Active Military and Veteran Waterfowl Permit is a type of limited entry permit that is required to participate in designated waterfowl hunts on the following Public Waterfowl Areas: A-1 FEB Impoundment, Guana River – Lake Ponte Vedra, Ocklawaha Prairie, Stormwater Treatment Areas (STA), and T.M. Goodwin/Broadmoor Marsh. The following information provides further details regarding these permits.

Requirements to Apply: Unless exempt, hunters must have a valid Management Area Permit to apply. Applicants must attest to being a veteran or member of the Armed Forces on active duty, including members of the National Guard and Reserves when applying.
Exemptions: There are no exemptions for this permit type.
Group Applications: Group applications are not available for this permit type.
Preference Points: There are no preference points for this permit type.
Transferability: These permits are not transferable.
How to Apply: Applicants can apply online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com (sign on and choose “Apply for Limited Entry/Quota Permit”) or by completing an Application Worksheet and presenting it to any license agent or tax collector's office. Each applicant may make up to 10 choices on an application in Phase I and II, and one choice on an application in Phase III Leftovers.
Application and permit Issuance: Applicants may submit one application and receive up to one permit in Phase I or Phase II. Permits are issued by random drawing during Phase I and II, and issued on a first-come, first-served basis during Phase III Leftovers. Each hunter may obtain four permits cumulatively for this permit type.
Drawing Results: Drawing results are typically posted within three business days after the application period ends.
How to Get the Permit: Successful applicants may print their permit online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com or at a license agent or tax collector's office. Successful applicants with a valid email address will have a copy of their permit emailed to them. Permits may also be downloaded and stored on the Fish|Hunt FL mobile app.
Guest Permits: Guest permits are not available for this permit type. However, some permits allow a designated number of hunters to participate in the hunt as indicated on the permit. Additional hunters must also be a veteran or member of the Armed Forces on active duty, including members of the National Guard and Reserves.
Reprints: Customers can reprint their permit at no cost from their customer account at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com. Permits may also be reprinted at a license agent or tax collector office for a fee.
Returned Permits: Hunters unable to use their permits may return the permit. All returned permits are included in weekly reissue drawings throughout the season.
License Requirements to Hunt Waterfowl in Florida: Unless exempt, those hunting Public Waterfowl Areas must have a valid Hunting License, Florida Waterfowl and Management Area Permits, and a Migratory Bird Permit. All hunters 16 and older must also possess a current Federal Duck Stamp.
Note: Permit holders and any accompanying hunters must carry proof of active duty or veteran status at all times during the hunt.
Reporting Requirements: There are no reporting requirements for Regular Season Waterfowl Permits; however, FWC biologists may send out surveys at the conclusion of each season and appreciate feedback.
Important Check Station Information: Permit holders who do not check in at the check station at T.M. Goodwin/Broadmoor Marsh and the STAs during the required intervals on the hunt date will forfeit their permit. No-shows at T.M. Goodwin/Broadmoor Marsh are replaced by walk-ins at the check station via random drawing at 4:30 a.m. for morning hunts. STA standby opportunities for morning hunts will now be issued online, rather than by random drawing at the check station. STA standby opportunities for afternoon hunts will continue to be issued at the check station 1 p.m. random drawing. Permit holders who do not attend their hunts at Guana River – Lake Ponte Vedra and Ocklawaha Prairie will not be replaced by walk-ins.
