Becoming an Outdoors Woman

Our workshops are designed primarily for women; however, they are an opportunity for anyone 18 years of age or older to learn outdoor skills. We offer a variety of topics such as fishing, hunting, paddling, archery, camping and more.

These workshops are for people who have never tried these activities but want the opportunity to learn as well as those with some experience who want to improve their skills or learn new ones. The workshops are also a great opportunity to meet others who enjoy the outdoors!

A workshop consists of four sessions, lasting three and a half hours each. The workshops are held at the Everglades Youth Conservation Camp in the JW Corbett management area and Ocala Conservation Center in the Ocala National Forest to keep costs to a minimum. These are rustic yet comfortable camp facilities. Lodging is dormitory-style. Meals are served at designated times, cafeteria-style.

The registration fee for these workshops is $200, with a $25 early registration discount; however, the fee will ultimately be determined by the availability of facilities and the number of volunteer instructors. The registration fee typically includes instruction in the topics you choose, program materials, use of demonstration equipment, lodging and all meals starting with lunch on Friday through lunch on Sunday. Workshops and topics are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
