Resources about Alligators for the Media

Large AlligatorAlligator management staff are under the FWC Division of Hunting and Game Management and are located in 3 offices. Overall coordination, alligator farming and private lands programs are administered from Ocala; public hunting is administered in Tallahassee; the Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program is administered in Okeechobee.  Alligator research staff under the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute are located in Gainesville and Eustis.

After reaching sexual maturity at 4-7 years, female manatees give birth to an average of one calf every 2-3 years. The calf stays with its mother for up to 2 years.
