The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) Division of Law Enforcement will hold its third workshop on boating safety restricted zones within the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and the Okeechobee Waterway surrounding Martin County.

The workshop will be held in Stuart on March 25 from 5-8 p.m. at the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Road. It is open to the public.

The purpose of this workshop is to hear public comment regarding certain areas identified by local government, boaters, law enforcement and interested parties to either further regulate or amend regulations, based on criteria established by law.

Currently, no decision has been made to either regulate or de-regulate the ICW as it traverses Martin County. Comments and recommendations from all stakeholders and interested people and data obtained from a vessel-traffic analysis will be used to help determine what final action will be taken.

Anyone requiring special accommodation to take part in the meeting due to a disability can arrange assistance by calling 850-488-6411 at least five days in advance. Hearing- or speech-impaired persons can arrange assistance by calling 850-488-9542.
