For immediate release: April 1, 2008
Contact: Steve Robbins, 386-758-0525

The Friends of the Osceola, a group of sportsmen and women associated with the Osceola Rifle and Pistol Range in Lake City, will be conducting a “Women’s Handgun Safety Day” at the range April 26 at 10 a.m.

"This is an exciting event for women and designed for beginners," said Steve Robbins, hunter education coordinator. "There will be discussions on safety, range etiquette, proper storage and the basic how-to and why of handling firearms."

The class is free and will be taught by NRA certified instructors. Firearms are provided, or women can bring their own handgun.

"Please bring a box of .38 special or 9 mm ammunition or a box of ammunition for your handgun.  You will have the opportunity to shoot a variety of handguns," Robbins said. "If you have a gun in your home, or you know someone who does, you should be at this event."

Food and beverages will be provided to participants.

Call the FWC Hunter Safety Office in Lake City, 386-758-0525, to register or for further information.
