CONTACT: Tom Champeau (863) 648-3200

Sen. Paula Dockery (District 15) has invited the public to hike with her on Saddle Creek Trail on Sat., Oct., 14. Dockery will lead a 9-11 a.m. guided tour on the scenic trail that winds through forests and lakes within the Tenoroc Fish Management Area.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) biologists will join the hike and provide information about the area’s mining history and natural resources. The hiking trail was built cooperatively by the FWC, the Department of Environmental Protection Division of Greenways and Trails, local Boy Scouts, volunteers with the Florida Trail Association and students at Sleepy Hill Middle School.

To get to the Saddle Creek Trail, go 2 miles east on U.S. 92 from Combee Road and turn north (left) on Saddle Creek Park Road. Follow Saddle Creek Park Road until the road makes a hard left and becomes Morgan Combee Road. The trailhead parking area will be just ahead and to the right in the northeast corner of Saddle Creek Park, behind the maintenance area and the old swimming beach.

For more information about recreational opportunities at the Tenoroc Fish Management Area, call (863)-499-2422 or visit MyFWC.com for other information about the wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities provided through the FWC.
