Description: Six tracts comprise this state forest of pine/turkey oak, sand pine, pine plantation, and cypress, not to mention the meandering Withlacoochee River. There are several hiking trails and forest roads (many of which are impassable without a four-wheel-drive vehicle). Watchable wildlife: Woodland songbirds, hawks, woodpeckers, and owls live in the bottomland hardwood and pine forests. White-tailed deer, rabbits, and raccoons are seen early and late in the day.
