Welcome to Florida Bass Plate
The plate was designed by Scott Hiestand, an artist with the "Orlando Sentinel." It shows Florida's official state freshwater fish, the largemouth bass, in a natural eel-grass bed with a redear sunfish and bluegill. It can be personalized with up to five characters. To reserve a unique personalized identity for your plate, contact your local tax collector. The bass tag has proven to be by far the most popular of the tags designed in 1997. As of January 2001, it has sold more than all seven of the other 1997 year-class tags combined and provided more than a million dollars for fish and wildlife conservation. Current statistics are maintained by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Even more importantly, now that marine and freshwater fish are combined in one agency with wildlife, including game, nongame and threatened species, funds from sale of the "go fishing" tag will benefit all of Florida's fish and wildlife.
