Identification:
Florida's largest tern. The large, thick, red bill and heavier-bodied appearance help distinguish it from the similar looking Royal Tern. Flight capable juveniles have an orange bill.

Colonial nester, often nesting with Laughing Gulls and other large tern species. This scattered breeder can easily be overlooked in a large, mixed species colony. Peak nesting occurs in the last two weeks of May.

Usually 2-3 eggs (ranges from 1-4)

Incubation:
21 days

Fledge:
30-40 days
