Distinct sooty brown color distinguishes this seabird from all others.White forehead fades to gray across the top of the head and nape.Flight capable juveniles lack a distinct white forehead.

Breeding:
Colonial Nester.Nesting begins in February. Breeds in the Dry Tortugas.

35-38 days
