Partners in Stock Enhancement

The Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's Stock Enhancement Research Facility (SERF) partners with Mote Marine Laboratory and the Crystal River Mariculture Center to produce hatchery-reared animals to support the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's fisheries management efforts.



Mote Marine Laboratory

The FWC Fisheries Stock Enhancement Program is a partnership with Mote Marine Laboratory, located in Sarasota.

Crystal River Mariculture Center

The Crystal River Mariculture Center is located at Progress Energy Complex in Crystal River near the Gulf of Mexico.


FWC Facts:
The average Florida manatee is about 10 ft. long and close to 1,200 lbs. They can reach up to 13 ft. and 3,500 lbs. Calves are 3-4 ft. long & weigh 60-70 lbs. at birth.
