Bay Scallop (Argopecten irradians) Spat
Most adult animals have one mottled gray-brown shell and one white
shell, while the orange variety is less abundant. Other color
varieties such as yellow, white, or black are more common in
juvenile bay scallops, or "spat".
This photo also contains calico scallop (Argopecten
gibbus) spat which have white and pink mottled shells.
