First Round of Manatee Avoidance Technology Grants Awarded - 2001

The grants will be used to aid in the development of technology designed to reduce the number of manatees hit by boats.

Manatees have molars but no front teeth (no incisors or canines). Manatee teeth are unusual among mammals because they are continually replaced throughout the animals' lives.
